When Prince Charles launched his Duchy Originals in 1990, it was trumpeted as a “brand for the independents”. “At last”, farm shops and deli owners thought, “there is a brand with some marketing clout behind it that we can sell in our shops and not worry about it being in the local supermarket at a lower price.” (more…)

I am writing this week about two small words that seem to be disappearing out of the business world. “Thank you”. Many suppliers and retailers take their customers for granted. Looking for opportunities to thank your customers will reap large rewards in the future for very little effort. Swaddles Swindle
You may have read this week about the jailing of the director of an organic food company for fraudulent trading. The so-called “Organic, Natural and Ethical” company called Onefood, was also known as Swaddles Organic. Neil Stansfield bought non-organic pork pies and salmon from sources including Tesco and Waitrose, removed the packaging and re-packaged the products as organic and premium, selling them to retailers (more…)
