When in France last week, I was surprised to find out that the ‘Staff Christmas Party’ seems to be an event particular to our culture and doesn’t happen in most other European cultures. This could be a blessing in disguise for company directors throughout the UK. Not that they are likely to get drunk and make fools of themselves (but some do!), but that the annual event of drunkenness and debauchery with those people that you work with but probably don’t socialise with for the rest of the year is not necessarily a pretty site! Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2010 - How was it for you?
Posted: 14/09/2010
Well, it’s over for another year. Fresh RM are claiming it was the best ever with nearly 600 exhibitors. Certainly the exhibitors’ drinks on the first evening was more crowded and noisy than I ever remember! I have exhibited at this show from the beginning, and so have 11 years of experience. As the show has become larger it has changed in character; I would say that there isn’t quite the buzz that there used to be in the early years, but most definitely an increase in professionalism. Holiday Season
I can tell from the increasing numbers of end of term concerts, leaver’s parties, prize-givings and sports days that the end of term is upon us, which means that soon a load of 5-16 year olds will be on school holidays. What difference does this make to those of us running businesses and retail outlets?
There will be more children trailing around shops with their parents. The children’s sector of the speciality food market is not fully tapped into by many retail outlets. (more…)
National BBQ Week 25-31st May
The nation is holding its breath for a good summer in 2009. After two miserable summers, we need something to cheer us up in the dark days of recession.
Not only does the summer weather generally put people in a better mood, it also means they spend more money.
In our sector we pray for good weather at weekends, which generally means an increase in sales of (more…)
